Chennai | March 15, 2026:
Speculation is growing in Tamil Nadu politics over a possible alliance between actor-turned-politician Vijay’s party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. However, there has been no official confirmation from either side so far. According to political reports, the BJP has been trying to bring TVK into the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) to strengthen its position in Tamil Nadu. Some media reports claim the BJP may have offered a significant number of Assembly seats to TVK as part of a possible alliance deal. Leaders of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, however, have denied such claims and stated that the party has not held any formal alliance discussions with the Bharatiya Janata Party. TVK leaders also described several circulating reports as speculation. Vijay launched Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam in 2024 and announced plans to actively contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, aiming to emerge as a major political force in the state. Political observers say alliance talks among parties are likely to intensify as the election approaches, but for now no formal partnership between TVK and BJP has been announced.
