Signals are emerging that the Congress party is gearing up for a new political strategy in Andhra Pradesh. Political circles are discussing the possibility of the Congress high command offering a Rajya Sabha seat to Y. S. Sharmila, the president of the APCC, focusing on strengthening the party.
It is reported that several names are already under consideration for the three Rajya Sabha seats that Congress is expected to secure from Karnataka. Senior leaders B. K. Hariprasad and Rajeev Gowda, along with party spokespersons from Delhi, Pawan Khera and Supriya Srinate, are also being mentioned. It has become interesting that Sharmila's name is prominently being discussed in this list.
Party sources indicate that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had previously assured Sharmila of a Rajya Sabha opportunity. Consequently, there are speculations that Congress is considering assigning her key responsibilities in national politics.
The high command seems to be contemplating this decision with the aim of bringing new momentum to Congress in the state. Reports suggest that the party is strategizing to leverage the popularity of the YSR family in favor of Congress.
However, it appears that Sharmila has also been entrusted with internal coordination responsibilities within the party. Sources indicate that she has been given a clear task to enhance coordination among Congress leaders in the state and to revitalize the cadre.
Following the official announcement and oath-taking regarding the change of Chief Minister in Karnataka, Congress is expected to announce the list of Rajya Sabha candidates. This has generated interest in how Congress's decisions will impact the political landscape in Andhra Pradesh.
