Khargone, August 15, 2026:
A political controversy has intensified regarding the alleged 'purification' conducted with the sprinkling of Ganga water and a Havan ceremony at the venue following Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's rally in Haldwani. The Congress party has strongly opposed this incident, stating that it goes against social equality, Dalit respect, and the fundamental spirit of the Constitution.
In response to this issue, the district Congress committee in Khargone staged a protest. The demonstration was led by state Congress Vice President and former MLA Ravi Joshi, along with district Congress President Ravi Naik. Congress leaders and workers chanted slogans against the alleged purification act, labeling it a symbol of social discrimination mentality.
Congress leaders stated that the Constitution of India grants equal rights and respect to all citizens. Therefore, the alleged incident of 'purifying' the venue through religious rituals after a political leader's rally raises serious questions about the spirit of equality and brotherhood in society.
Protesters alleged that such incidents undermine the dignity of the Dalit community and are contrary to the equality ideals of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the architect of the Constitution. The Congress has demanded that this matter be taken seriously and a clear message be sent against the mentality that fosters discrimination in society.
Congress leaders emphasized that the country operates on democratic and constitutional values, and discrimination against any individual based on caste or social identity cannot be accepted. Regarding the alleged incident in Haldwani, the Congress has indicated that it will continue to protest at both political and social levels.
