Vem Narender Reddy's Rajya Sabha CandidacVem Narender Reddy (also spelled Narendra Reddy) is not currently a Rajya Sabha member from Telangana. He is a frontrunner for one of the two seats up for biennial election in March 2026, with nominations closing around March 5, 2026.

Background

Born in 1960 in Arpanapalle, Mahabubabad district, he holds a B.A. and has a long political career, starting with Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

He won the Mahabubabad Assembly seat in 2004 as TDP MLA before switching to Indian National Congress in 2017 alongside Revanth Reddy.

Recent RolesAppointed Advisor to Telangana Chief Minister (Public Affairs) in January 2024 with Minister of State rank, he is a close aide to CM A. Revanth Reddy.

 He coordinated 2023 Assembly elections for Congress and serves as TPCC Vice President since 2021.

Rajya Sabha Status

As of March 4, 2026, Congress has not finalized candidates, but Reddy is a top contender alongside names like Ch Vamshi Chand Reddy and Abhishek Manu Singhvi for renomination.

 No confirmation of his nomination or election exists yet; the process is ongoing amid lobbying. He has no prior Rajya Sabha tenure.
