Hyderabad, May 14: Telangana is set to face an intense heatwave over the next three days, with temperatures in several northern districts likely to cross the 45°C mark. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Red Alert for Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Nirmal, and Mancherial districts, warning residents of severe heat and dangerous weather conditions.

According to the weather department, the combination of scorching temperatures and strong hot winds is expected to create life-threatening conditions, particularly during the afternoon hours. Officials said temperatures may remain above normal even in the evening, increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses.

Authorities have advised people to avoid stepping outdoors unless absolutely necessary, especially between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, wear light cotton clothing, and use caps or cloth to cover their heads when venturing outside.

Doctors have cautioned that children, senior citizens, pregnant women, and people suffering from chronic illnesses are especially vulnerable to heatstroke and dehydration. Symptoms such as dizziness, headache, nausea, and excessive sweating should not be ignored.

Several parts of Telangana are already recording temperatures between 43°C and 44°C. With the mercury expected to rise further, officials have appealed to the public to remain alert and follow all safety advisories until the heatwave subsides.
