Heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds have been battering several parts of the Telugu states since Tuesday night, causing widespread disruption and crop damage. Farmers in many regions suffered losses as gusty winds and intense rainfall damaged standing crops and agricultural fields.
According to the latest warning issued by the India Meteorological Department, similar weather conditions are likely to continue for the next two days across parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Officials have cautioned people to remain alert as thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds may intensify in isolated areas
The sudden change in weather brought relief from scorching summer temperatures but also triggered chaos in several districts. Heavy rain and thunderstorm activity were reported across the Godavari region, Rayalaseema districts, and North Andhra. Areas in Kadapa and Sri Sathya Sai districts witnessed intense overnight showers, leading to waterlogging and traffic disruptions.
In many places, lightning strikes, uprooted trees, and fallen electricity poles affected transportation and power supply. Residents in several towns faced difficulties as roads were blocked and local services were temporarily disrupted due to the severe weather conditions.
In Hyderabad, widespread rainfall continued from late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. Several parts of the city, including Miyapur, Chandanagar, Lingampally, Gachibowli, Madhapur, Rayadurgam, and Qutbullapur, received heavy showers accompanied by thunder and lightning.
The fresh spell of rain brought major relief to Hyderabad residents after two days of intense heat under the Rohini Karthe period. The city, which had been reeling under soaring temperatures, witnessed a noticeable drop in temperature as cool winds and rain showers swept across the region.
