Security Lapse During CM Revanth Reddy’s Yadagirigutta Visit Triggers Intelligence Failure Allegations

Security concerns intensify after alleged lapses during Telangana CM Revanth Reddy’s Yadagirigutta visit trigger criticism over intelligence failure.

Telangana/karnataka

A major security scare during Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s recent visit to Yadagirigutta has sparked sharp criticism over the functioning of the state’s intelligence and VIP security systems. What initially appeared to be a protocol mix-up has now escalated into a serious debate on whether there was a complete failure in security coordination during the Chief Minister’s tour.

The controversy erupted after the Chief Minister’s helicopter reportedly landed at a different helipad than the one originally designated for the visit. Shockingly, there were allegedly no adequate security personnel or senior officials present at the location when the helicopter touched down. Reports claim that the Chief Minister and accompanying ministers had to remain inside the helicopter for nearly 15 minutes due to confusion over security arrangements.

The visit, held on May 23 for the foundation stone laying of development works worth nearly Rs.100 crore at Yadagirigutta, was supposed to have extensive security arrangements in place. However, political circles and security experts are now questioning how such a serious lapse could occur despite prior planning and coordination involving multiple agencies.

Security experts point out that VIP movements, especially those involving Z-category protection, require strict coordination between the State Intelligence and Security Wing, district police, and helicopter security teams. Standard protocol includes advance clearance of landing zones, crowd management, and emergency response planning. Any deviation from these procedures is being viewed as a serious concern.

Security experts warn that even a few minutes of negligence in VIP protection can lead to severe consequences. They recalled the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the life of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy and stressed the need for extreme caution in handling VVIP movements.

The functioning of Telangana’s Intelligence and Security Wing has also come under scrutiny. Allegations are being raised regarding internal inefficiency, poor coordination, and the lack of experienced officers within the department. Sources claim that several senior and capable officers have either been transferred or moved out of the wing in recent months, weakening the overall security structure.

Controversy has also emerged over strict fitness rules imposed on security personnel. Reports suggest that even officers above 50 years of age were instructed to complete physically demanding endurance tests, leading to health complications among some staff members. Critics allege that such decisions created dissatisfaction within the department and affected morale among experienced officers.

Questions are now being raised over how such a critical lapse escaped the attention of the state leadership despite Chief Minister Revanth Reddy personally monitoring law and order affairs in Telangana. Discussions are also underway about whether senior police officials were unable to intervene due to internal coordination issues within the security establishment.

According to sources, a detailed inquiry is currently underway to determine why the helicopter route was changed, who authorized the final landing decision, and why the security system failed to respond effectively. However, criticism continues to mount that officials are attempting to shift responsibility onto one another instead of addressing the core issues.

The Yadagirigutta incident has now exposed what many describe as serious weaknesses within Telangana’s VIP security mechanism. Security analysts insist that the government must treat the matter with utmost seriousness to prevent similar incidents in the future.
