Nagarjunasagar: The Maha Varuna Yagam organized by the state government, wishing for widespread rains in Telangana, concluded with devotion and rituals in Nagarjunasagar. This Yagam, held on the banks of the Krishna River near Vijay Vihar, saw Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and his wife participating in Vedic rituals under the guidance of Vedic scholars, culminating in the offering of Purnahuti.
Special homa rituals were conducted to appease Varuna Deva with 108 ritviks and 11 homa kundas under the leadership of the priests and Vedic scholars of the Yadagiri Gutta Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple. Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and his wife also participated in the event.
CM Revanth Reddy prayed for abundant rains in the state, hoping that the Krishna and Godavari rivers would flow fully. He expressed a desire for all projects in the state, including Srisailam and Nagarjunasagar, to be filled, and for every tank and pond to showcase water beauty. He wished for an increase in groundwater levels, bountiful crops, and smiles on the faces of farmers.
The government stated that the Varuna Yagam was conducted with the aim of ensuring the happiness and welfare of the people and farmers. It mentioned that the tradition of conducting Yagams, Yajnas, and Pujas reflects the bond between rains, agriculture, nature, and human life in Indian culture. The government explained that while working with scientific assessments and advance planning, it continues to respect traditions and seeks the blessings of nature.
The event was attended by Legislative Council Chairman Gutta Sukender Reddy, Ministers Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Konda Surekha, Government Advisors K. Keshav Rao, P. Sudarshan Reddy, former Minister K. Jana Reddy, along with several public representatives.
