Iran President Masoud Pezeshkian Responds to US Over Nuclear Rights, Self-Defense Claims

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian criticizes US policy on Iran’s nuclear rights, asserts self-defense stance, and denies intention to escalate regional conflict.

War News

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has strongly criticized the United States over its position on Iran’s nuclear program, arguing that Washington has no authority to deny Tehran what he described as its “lawful nuclear rights.”

Responding to remarks attributed to US President Donald Trump, Pezeshkian said Iran is being unfairly judged despite acting within its legal framework. “The US president says Iran should not make use of its nuclear rights, but he does not answer for what crime,” he said. “Who is he, after all, to deprive a nation of its legal rights?”

Reaffirming Tehran’s official stance, the Iranian leader insisted that the country is not seeking to expand regional conflict. He stressed that Iran has not initiated any war and does not intend to do so under current conditions.

Iran is not seeking to expand the war and has not started any conflict and will not do so,” Pezeshkian said. “We have not attacked any country, and under the current circumstances we have no intention of attacking any side. We are only engaged in legitimate self-defense.

” His comments come amid heightened regional tensions, during which multiple countries in the Middle East have reportedly experienced cross-border strikes and security incidents attributed to wider regional escalation. These developments have further intensified diplomatic friction between Iran, the United States, and several regional actors.
