Washington, May 11:
U.S.President Donald Trump has rejected Iran’s latest peace proposal, saying the country’s continued nuclear ambitions and treatment of its own citizens make any agreement impossible at this stage. “It was just unacceptable,”
Trump said, criticizing Tehran for pursuing nuclear capabilities while facing accusations of violent repression at home.
Trump also claimed Iran has suffered a major military setback. “Iran has been defeated militarily; totally. They have a little left they probably built up during this period of time,” he said.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, with diplomatic efforts underway to reduce hostilities and protect vital global shipping routes.
Iran had reportedly sought sanctions relief and security guarantees as part of its proposal, but Washington remains focused on curbing Tehran’s nuclear program and regional activities.
Trump’s rejection signals that any breakthrough in U.S.-Iran relations remains unlikely unless both sides narrow their differences on security and nuclear issues.
