The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led Centre, accusing it of “double engine failure and double jumla politics” after recent fuel price fluctuations once again sparked public concern in West Bengal. The ruling party claimed that the so-called “development model” is burdening common citizens with rising petrol and diesel costs.
Senior TMC leaders alleged that despite repeated promises of price stability, the central government has failed to control fuel inflation. They said the “double engine government narrative” is being exposed as households continue to struggle with transport and daily essential cost increases across West Bengal.
Responding strongly, TMC spokespersons accused the BJP of using slogans instead of solutions, calling them “double jumla politics.” They argued that fuel taxes remain disproportionately high, and the benefit of crude price corrections in global markets is not being passed on to the public.
Meanwhile, leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party dismissed the allegations, stating that fuel pricing is influenced by global crude oil trends and earlier economic mismanagement by state governments. BJP leaders insisted that the Centre has ensured energy security even during volatile international conditions
. The escalating political war of words is expected to intensify ahead of upcoming elections, with fuel prices once again becoming a key battleground issue. Analysts say both parties are now using inflation concerns to mobilize voters, turning everyday economics into high-voltage political messaging.
