Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan has asserted that his association with Telangana is based on affection and respect for its people, not electoral gains.
Addressing a gathering in Hyderabad, Pawan Kalyan said he toured Telangana “not for votes, but because I love Telangana,” and added that he does not need to prove his commitment to the state to political opponents. He reiterated that Jana Sena has never been against Telangana and clarified that the party's reservations were only about the manner in which the state's bifurcation was carried out.
The Jana Sena chief also recalled the support he received from people in Telangana during political confrontations in Andhra Pradesh. Referring to opposition faced during the previous YSRCP government, he said residents from Nalgonda and Kodad stood by him and participated in his rallies, highlighting what he described as the strong bond between people of the two Telugu states.
Pawan Kalyan emphasized that political differences should not be used to create divisions between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and called for mutual respect and cooperation among Telugu-speaking people. His remarks come amid continuing political debates over Telangana's formation and regional identity issues.
