BRS and BJP face allegations of reviving Telangana sentiment politics to challenge the Revanth Reddy government, as the Prof. Nageshwar controversy triggers fresh debate.

Hyderabad, June 2:

Political temperatures are rising in Telangana as allegations emerge that opposition forces are attempting to revive the Telangana sentiment to corner the Congress government led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.

The controversy began after political analyst and former MLC Prof. Nageshwar, during a television discussion, claimed that Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan had allegedly urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to arrest former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. The remarks quickly sparked a political storm in Andhra Pradesh, drawing reactions from leaders across party lines.

According to reports, Andhra Pradesh police reportedly considered action against Prof. Nageshwar over the comments. However, the issue appeared to cool down after Nageshwar clarified his remarks and expressed regret for the controversy.

What was initially an Andhra Pradesh political dispute soon spilled over into Telangana. Several pro-Telangana voices and social media influencers associated with opposition circles projected the issue as an attack on Telangana's intellectual community. Meetings and discussions were organized in Hyderabad, with claims that criticism of Prof. Nageshwar amounted to an attack on Telangana itself.

Critics accuse the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) of attempting to reignite Telangana sentiment at a time when the party is struggling to regain political momentum. Political observers allege that efforts are being made to transform an isolated controversy into a larger regional issue capable of mobilizing public opinion against the ruling Congress government.

The BJP, too, is being drawn into the political battle. Analysts claim that attempts are underway to create friction between the BJP, Telugu Desam Party, and Jana Sena alliance in Andhra Pradesh while simultaneously using Telangana identity politics to challenge the Congress administration in Hyderabad.

Despite these political flashpoints, the Revanth Reddy government has continued to focus on welfare and development initiatives. The Chief Minister used Telangana Formation Day celebrations to attack the Centre over paddy procurement issues, warning that Congress leaders would stage protests if farmers' grain was not purchased within the stipulated deadline.

Revanth Reddy's aggressive stance has shifted attention toward farmers' concerns, forcing opposition parties to recalibrate their strategy. Political observers believe attempts by both the BRS and BJP to destabilize the Congress government through sentiment-driven politics have so far failed to gain significant traction among the general public.

As Telangana enters a crucial political phase, the battle appears set to intensify, with identity politics, farmer issues, and inter-state political rivalries all converging into a high-stakes confrontation ahead of future electoral contests.
