Lucknow, July 14:
Political temperatures are rising in Uttar Pradesh well ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, with fresh friction emerging between alliance partners Congress and the Samajwadi Party.
Congress MP Imran Masood has accused the SP leadership of neglecting and sidelining influential Muslim leaders within the party structure, despite relying heavily on minority support during elections. He also argued that the Samajwadi Party's improved showing in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections was made possible due to the backing of Congress and the broader opposition alliance.
The remarks have sparked a sharp response from the Samajwadi Party, which maintained that decisions regarding electoral alliances and seat-sharing arrangements would be taken only by the top leadership of the parties involved and not through public statements by individual leaders.
The latest exchange has intensified speculation over the future of opposition unity in Uttar Pradesh, where parties in the INDIA bloc are expected to negotiate complex political equations ahead of the crucial 2027 Assembly battle against the BJP
