Spain are the 2026 FIFA World Cup champions after edging Argentina 1-0 in extra time in a gripping final at New York New Jersey Stadium.

With the match locked at 0-0 after 90 minutes, substitute Ferran Torres delivered the decisive moment in the 106th minute, scoring the only goal of the final to seal Spain's second men's World Cup title.

Argentina battled hard and created chances but failed to find the breakthrough, as Spain's disciplined defense held firm. Torres' winner sparked jubilant celebrations, ending Spain's 16-year wait to lift football's biggest trophy again.

 The victory caps a remarkable tournament for Spain, who produced consistent performances throughout the competition to reclaim the FIFA World Cup crown. Meanwhile, Argentina's bid to defend the title ended in heartbreak after an intense and closely contested final.
