Hyderabad, June 20: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy reaffirmed the government's commitment to strengthening education and nurturing student talent, stating that the ultimate goal is to develop young learners into responsible citizens and future leaders.
Addressing a large gathering at LB Stadium during the launch of educational initiatives for the new academic year, the Chief Minister said Telangana is being transformed into a major education and sports hub. Along with the distribution of student kits to residential school students, several education-sector development programs were inaugurated in the presence of Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla.
The Chief Minister announced that the government is providing Young India Student Kits to nearly 2.75 million students across the state. He also revealed that the government is exploring the possibility of introducing transportation facilities for students in the future, in addition to existing breakfast, lunch, and snack programs.
Highlighting the state's focus on education, Revanth Reddy said ₹26,600 crore, accounting for 8.5 percent of the state budget, has been allocated to the education sector. He described the expenditure as an investment in Telangana’s future rather than a mere government expense.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the future of the nation is shaped in classrooms and rural communities. He noted that the government has introduced nursery, LKG, and UKG classes in public schools to provide quality English-medium education to children from economically weaker families.
He further stated that Telangana's education policy aims to create a structured learning pathway from nursery to Class 12, ensuring equal opportunities for all students. According to him, government schools are witnessing growing demand due to improvements in infrastructure and academic standards.
Encouraging students to dream big, Revanth Reddy urged them to excel in academics, leadership, sports, and innovation. He expressed hope that Telangana would emerge as a national model in education and produce future leaders capable of contributing to nation-building.
During the event, students who demonstrated outstanding academic performance were honored with cash incentives and certificates of appreciation. The Chief Minister and Governor also launched the "Anna-Akka Mentorship" initiative and administered an anti-drug pledge to school and college students as part of a statewide awareness campaign.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, ministers, public representatives, officials, and thousands of students attended the programme.
