A fresh political controversy has erupted in Telangana after sensational allegations were made against the leadership of Bharat Rashtra Samithi and its top leaders over alleged financial irregularities, land allotments, and links with influential business groups.
The allegations claim that nearly ₹1,400 crore parked in the party's bank accounts originated from Andhra-based contractors through alleged quid pro quo arrangements. It was further demanded that the money be distributed among the families of Telangana martyrs, with ₹1 crore proposed for each family.
In a direct political attack, it was declared that there would be no possibility of joining the BRS "as long as I am alive," signaling an intensification of the political battle in the state.
Serious accusations were also levelled against K. T. Rama Rao, alleging that he benefited from an alleged quid pro quo arrangement involving Pradeep Constructions.
Another allegation targeted T. Harish Rao, claiming that a company linked to him supplies milk to institutions run by Sri Chaitanya Educational Institutions. It was suggested that private educational institutions with more than 500 students should be mandated to procure milk from Vijaya Dairy instead.
The attack also extended to the media, with claims that the newspaper The Pioneer had been taken over by BRS interests and that readers should be cautious about its reporting.
Questions were also raised over the controversial "Phoenix" group, with allegations that it had been nurtured and protected by both KTR and Harish Rao. Demands were made for clarity regarding the ownership and origins of the group and its promoters.
In one of the strongest statements made during the attack, it was announced that all land allotments made to Andhra contractors during both the BRS government led by K. Chandrashekar Rao and the present Congress administration would be reviewed. The warning stated that every square yard of land allotted under questionable circumstances would be taken back by the government.
The remarks are expected to intensify the political war in Telangana ahead of upcoming electoral battles, with BRS leaders likely to respond strongly to the allegations in the coming days.
