The United Kingdom has announced sanctions against 12 individuals and organisations accused of having links to Iran and involvement in activities deemed hostile to British interests.
The sanctions include asset freezes and travel restrictions, preventing those listed from accessing financial resources in the UK or entering the country. British officials said the action is aimed at protecting national security and sending a strong warning against foreign interference.
According to the UK government, the targeted individuals and entities are suspected of supporting intimidation, surveillance, and other covert operations against dissidents, journalists, and community groups based in Britain.
The move comes amid growing concerns in Europe over alleged Iran-backed activities, including cyber threats and attempts to influence political and social groups Iran has consistently denied such allegations, describing them as politically motivated and part of a broader campaign to increase pressure on Tehran.
The latest sanctions are expected to add further strain to already tense relations between the UK and Iran, as Western nations continue to tighten scrutiny of Tehran’s international activities.
