Hyderabad: Rajiv Gandhi International Air port April 14:
Tension gripped Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport after a shocking incident triggered panic among passengers. A mobile phone battery suddenly exploded inside a passenger’s luggage during routine security screening, creating chaos at the airport.
The passenger, identified as Laxman Prasad, was scheduled to board a flight to Raipur. During baggage checks by Central Industrial Security Force personnel, the battery reportedly burst inside the bag, sending shockwaves across the terminal. Frightened passengers scrambled in panic as the situation escalated within seconds.
Security officials reacted swiftly, isolating the area and bringing the situation under control before it could turn into a major disaster. Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported, but the sudden explosion caused intense fear among those present.
Following the incident, CISF officials detained the passenger and handed him over to airport police for further investigation. Officials are now probing whether the explosion was caused by a technical fault, overheating, or any other suspicious factor.
The incident has once again raised serious concerns over aviation security and the safety of electronic items carried by passengers. Experts warn that stricter screening and awareness are urgently needed to prevent such potentially dangerous situations in the future.
