Ibrahimpatnam has been rocked by a shocking sexual assault case after a female engineering student accused her classmate of luring her out under false pretences and brutally raping her in a secluded area.
According to police reports, the accused, identified as Uday (Udatala Uday), allegedly gained the victim’s trust by posing as a friend and fellow student. On May 14, he reportedly convinced her to step out casually for tea, claiming it was a routine outing between classmates.
The victim, unaware of any foul intent, agreed and accompanied him. Police say the duo travelled to the Dilsukhnagar area where they had tea before beginning their return journey. En route, the accused allegedly purchased alcohol and diverted the vehicle towards an isolated stretch on the BDS road instead of heading back to Ibrahimpatnam
. In a disturbing turn of events, the accused is said to have forced the victim to consume alcohol against her will. As she became heavily intoxicated and lost consciousness, he allegedly took her to his room and sexually assaulted her.
The next day, the victim regained awareness and was left traumatised after realising the alleged crime. Despite the shock, she immediately approached Ibrahimpatnam police and lodged a formal complaint.
Police acted swiftly, registering a non-bailable case under relevant sections of rape and other charges.
The victim was shifted to Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad for medical examination as part of the investigation. Within hours of the complaint, police arrested the accused and produced him before a local court, which remanded him to judicial custody.
The incident has triggered widespread outrage and renewed concerns over student safety in educational institutions, with demands for stricter vigilance and campus protection measures
