Hyderabad, June 2: As Hyderabad continues to reel under an intense heatwave, growing anger is emerging among parents over the decision of private schools to reopen despite extreme temperatures and unbearable humidity gripping the city.
The severity of the weather was evident during the Telangana Formation Day celebrations at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad on Monday. With thousands struggling under the blazing sun, the oppressive heat reportedly forced the event to be shortened, highlighting the harsh conditions prevailing across the city.
Parents argue that if public events are being affected by the extreme weather, exposing schoolchildren to the same conditions raises serious concerns about their health and safety. Many fear that prolonged exposure to high temperatures could lead to dehydration, heat exhaustion, and other heat-related illnesses among students.
Several parents have questioned why schools resumed classes from June 1 when temperatures remain dangerously high. They say young children are particularly vulnerable and should not be compelled to travel and attend classes during peak summer conditions.
The issue has triggered demands for immediate government intervention. Parents and education activists are urging authorities to either suspend classes temporarily or revise school timings until weather conditions improve.
With meteorological warnings and soaring temperatures continuing across Telangana, pressure is mounting on the government to prioritize student welfare and take urgent action before the heat takes a toll on children’s health.
