Hyderabad, July 3:
Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) C.V. Anand on Friday directed police officers across the state to strengthen people-centric policing and make greater use of technology to deliver transparent and efficient public services. During a statewide review meeting with unit officers and Station House Officers (SHOs), the DGP reviewed visible policing, CCTNS implementation, cybercrime investigations, narcotics control, road safety, and crime detection.
The DGP stressed that police personnel must remain accessible to the public through visible policing and regular field visits. He instructed senior officers to frequently inspect police stations, monitor investigations, assess law and order, and address public grievances. Officers were also told to strictly follow visiting hours at police stations and avoid unnecessary involvement in civil disputes such as land-related issues while keeping a close watch on misinformation and rumours circulating on social media.
Highlighting the importance of digital policing, Anand directed officers to fully utilise platforms such as CCTNS, e-Sakshya, and the Lathi App. He noted that CCTNS updates have reached 60–70% statewide, with Adilabad, Rajanna Sircilla, and Jayashankar Bhupalpally leading in implementation. He also called for faster registration and investigation of cybercrime cases, particularly in Hyderabad's four commissionerates, where the majority of such offences are reported.
The DGP also instructed all districts to intensify action against narcotics and cannabis, describing drug prevention as a key social responsibility of the police. He asked officials to strengthen Anti-Drugs and Safety Committees in educational institutions and appreciated awareness campaigns that have already provided counselling and rehabilitation support to hundreds of students. On road safety, he said accident fatalities have declined under ongoing initiatives and announced that the emergency response system will soon be integrated with drone technology to improve response times.
Commending outstanding police personnel, the DGP announced rewards for officers who displayed exceptional service in saving lives, solving murder cases, arresting wanted criminals, and cracking theft cases. He urged every officer to use technology effectively, maintain professionalism, and work with dedication to ensure faster justice and improved public confidence in the police system.
