Hyderabad: In a significant step towards promoting gender-sensitive educational spaces, the Women Safety Wing (WSW) of Telangana Police on Friday conducted a Training of Trainers (ToT) programme under its flagship ‘Stand with Her’ campaign at the National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (NI-MSME) in Yousufguda, Hyderabad.
The programme brought together lecturers and assistant professors from government degree colleges and universities across Telangana, who were trained to serve as Master Trainers for the statewide implementation of the campaign. The initiative aims to create a network of educators capable of spreading awareness and encouraging positive behavioural change among students.
The inaugural session was attended by Director General of Women Safety Wing Charu Sinha, IPS, Deputy Inspector General Parimala Hana Nutan, IPS, Joint Director of the Department of Education Dr. Rajendra Singh, Department of School Education representative Dr. Soundarya Joseph, and Head of Training at Women Safety Wing Asiya Sherwani.
The ‘Stand with Her’ campaign seeks to actively involve men and boys in preventing gender-based violence by encouraging them to challenge stereotypes, identify inappropriate behaviour, and support safe, respectful and inclusive environments in educational institutions.
Speaking on the occasion, Charu Sinha stressed that preventing gender-based violence requires the active participation of men and boys, while educational institutions have a crucial role in shaping attitudes and behaviours. Dr. Rajendra Singh highlighted the responsibility of teachers in fostering values of equality, dignity and mutual respect among students

The training sessions, led by Asiya Sherwani and experienced facilitators, covered gender sensitivity, bystander intervention, identifying inappropriate conduct, facilitation techniques, and practical strategies for implementing the campaign effectively in higher educational institutions across Telangana.
The Women Safety Wing thanked the Department of Education, participating colleges, universities, and faculty members for their support. Officials stated that the initiative marks the beginning of a statewide awareness and capacity-building movement aimed at ensuring every student feels empowered to speak up, stand up, and stand with her.
