: New Delhi, March 12 In a significant move to make the country’s LPG distribution system more transparent and efficient, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has issued an important directive to domestic gas consumers across India. The ministry announced on March 10 that every household LPG consumer must complete the e-KYC verification process without delay. According to officials, completing e-KYC will ensure that LPG subsidy benefits are credited to the correct beneficiaries and will also help maintain accurate records of gas supply and consumption. Authorities stated that the initiative aims to eliminate fake or duplicate connections and strengthen transparency in the distribution system. Under this new directive, consumers using cylinders supplied by major oil companies such as Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited will be required to complete their e-KYC verification through their respective LPG distributors or official online portals. Officials warned that failure to complete the e-KYC process may lead to temporary suspension of LPG subsidy benefits and possible disruption in cylinder supply. Consumers have been advised to submit Aadhaar details and complete biometric or online verification at the earliest. The government believes the move will help curb irregularities in the LPG distribution network while ensuring that subsidy benefits reach genuine households across the country.
