Kolkata A latest opinion poll ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in West Bengal indicates that the ruling All India Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Banerjee may retain power, though the contest with the Bharatiya Janata Party is expected to remain tight. According to the survey projections, TMC could secure around 155–170 seats in the 294-member assembly, while the BJP alliance may win 100–115 seats. Other parties are expected to gain only a handful of seats. The poll also suggests that Mamata Banerjee remains the most preferred choice for the Chief Minister’s post, maintaining a clear lead over BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari. Political observers say the upcoming election in West Bengal is likely to witness a high-voltage battle between TMC and BJP, with both parties intensifying their campaign across the state
