A sensational gun theft case in Haryana has taken a gruesome turn after a 22-year-old ITI trainee, arrested for allegedly stealing 32 firearms from a police station, reportedly confessed to murdering his 19-year-old cousin during police interrogation.

According to police, the accused, identified as Monu, admitted that he and his girlfriend, Sarita, plotted the murder of his cousin Shivam after she allegedly complained that the victim had been harassing her..

Investigators said Sarita allegedly lured Shivam to her house, where he was served tea mixed with sleeping pills. After he lost consciousness, the duo allegedly suffocated him with a pillow before transporting his body on a motorcycle late at night and dumping it into a canal.

Following Monu's confession, police launched a search operation with divers in the canal. So far, only one shoe believed to belong to Shivam has been recovered. A murder case has been registered against both Monu and Sarita.

Shivam had been missing since July 9, 2025, and his family had filed a missing person's complaint. Relatives claim they had suspected Monu from the beginning and informed police, but allege that the investigation did not progress because he was working as an ITI trainee at the Sector-8 police station. Police have denied the allegation.

Monu was previously arrested for allegedly stealing 32 firearms from the malkhana (police storeroom) of the Sector-8 police station in Faridabad. Investigators said the thefts took place between October 2025 and April 2026, with the accused allegedly removing one weapon at a time to avoid detection.

Police alleged that Monu handed the stolen weapons to his cousin Vipin, who then passed them to a man identified as Sanjay in Rajasthan. The firearms were allegedly supplied to an interstate illegal arms network operating across Dharuhera, Bhiwadi, Rewari, Noida, Palwal, and Nuh.
