A massive employment scam has surfaced in Telangana, where nearly 25,000 fake or “ghost” employees were allegedly shown on government payrolls and salaries were withdrawn in their names. The fraud reportedly came to light during an Aadhaar verification process. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has ordered a forensic audit to investigate the scam and directed officials to file criminal cases against outsourcing agencies involved in the irregularities. Officials suspect the fraud may have been continuing for several years, causing huge financial losses to the state exchequer. A detailed investigation is now underway to identify those responsible.
