Hyderabad, March 11 : Several leaders from Telangana have strongly condemned the remarks made by MP Lavu Krishna Devarayalu describing February 14, 2014, the day Telangana was formed, as a “Black Day.” They stated that the formation of Telangana was carried out constitutionally with the approval of Parliament and support from major political parties at that time. The leaders criticized the statement, saying it was inappropriate to portray the formation of Telangana in a negative light for political gains. They alleged that such remarks were being made to please BJP leaders and warned against making misleading statements on such a sensitive issue. They also pointed out that the people of Telangana fought for decades to achieve statehood, and calling the day a “Black Day” hurts the sentiments of the people. The leaders emphasized that both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are now moving forward on their own paths of development. They urged political leaders to focus on development and maintain cordial relations between the two states rather than reopening old political debates.
