South Central Railway has set a new benchmark by registering an all-time high ticket checking revenue of ₹223.60 crore in the financial year 2025–26, the highest ever recorded by the zone in any financial year. The zone not only surpassed the target of ₹221.08 crore set by the Railway Board, but achieved this milestone 14 days ahead of the financial year-end. The previous record stood at ₹220.81 crore during 2023–24. The revenue was generated through cases related to ticketless travel, irregular travel, and unbooked luggage.
Notably, SCR also recorded its highest single-day ticket checking revenue of ₹1.85 crore on October 18, 2025. Railway officials stated that ticket checking plays a crucial role in curbing unauthorized travel and acts as a deterrent against repeat offenders. It also helps promote awareness among passengers about the importance of carrying valid travel tickets, thereby boosting legitimate ticket sales.
To enhance passenger convenience and increase ticketing efficiency, Indian Railways has introduced several digital initiatives such as the RailOne App, Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs), and QR code-based ticketing systems at stations. These measures, combined with the sustained efforts of ticket checking staff, have significantly contributed to increased passenger revenue. Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager of SCR, congratulated the Commercial wing, officers, and staff for this historic achievement. He emphasized that effective ticket checking not only reduces irregular travel but also strengthens trust among genuine passengers.
SCR’s achievement marks a significant milestone in improving operational efficiency and revenue generation within Indian Railways.
