Tehran, July 14:
Iranian media outlets reported that air defence systems were activated in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas as tensions in the Gulf region continued to rise.
According to initial reports, air defence units responded to what authorities described as potential aerial activity near the strategic coastal city, which lies close to the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's busiest energy shipping routes.
Officials have not released details about the nature of the incident or confirmed whether any targets were intercepted. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage following the activation of the defence systems.
The development comes amid heightened military tensions in the region, with global markets and governments closely monitoring events around the Gulf and the vital maritime corridor.
