According to the Hindu Panchang, the festival of Ugadi marks the beginning of the new Telugu year. This festival, which falls on the Chaitra Shuddha Padyami day, holds special significance in the Telugu states. The Telugu year that will commence in 2026 is referred to as the Parabhava Nama Samvatsaram. Scholars indicate that this new year will begin in the Pisces zodiac sign. The new year starts from Ugadi day according to the Hindu lunar calendar.

On Ugadi, people clean their homes, decorate with mango leaf garlands, and perform prayers. Notably, they prepare Ugadi Pachadi and share it with family members. This pachadi, which contains six tastes such as sweet, bitter, and sour, is considered a symbol of the joys and sorrows of life. Additionally, scholars conduct Panchanga Shravana to provide forecasts on the country's politics, economic conditions, rainfall, and crop situations for the new year. The Telugu people celebrate the festival of Ugadi with new hopes and goals.
