Hyderabad: The Congress has sharply criticised the BRS over alleged abusive remarks by one of its MLCs against Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, a Dalit leader, calling the incident an unacceptable attack on the dignity of the Assembly and democratic institutions.
The Congress questioned the BRS’s commitment to social justice, alleging that the party chose to defend the MLC’s conduct rather than condemn it.
The ruling party said that any disrespect towards the Speaker amounts to disrespecting the Chair, the Telangana Legislative Assembly and the democratic process.
The controversy has added another flashpoint to the ongoing political confrontation between the Congress and BRS in Telangana, with both parties trading sharp accusations over political conduct and social justice.
The Congress maintained that differences between political parties cannot justify personal attacks or disrespect towards constitutional and legislative institutions.
