Chennai | May 21, 2026:

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has significantly expanded his cabinet by inducting 23 newly elected MLAs as ministers, marking a major political and administrative reshuffle in the state government.

According to official updates, the expansion comes just weeks after the formation of the new TVK-led government, with Governor Arlekar approving the appointments ahead of the swearing-in ceremony held at Lok Bhavan in Chennai.

The latest move strengthens the ruling administration and broadens representation across key constituencies, while also triggering a major portfolio reshuffle within the cabinet.

Sources indicate that several crucial departments have been redistributed among senior ministers as part of the restructuring, aimed at improving governance efficiency and balancing political equations within the ruling alliance.

Political observers say the expansion reflects CM Vijay’s strategy to consolidate power early in his tenure and accommodate rising MLAs within the cabinet structure.

Notably, earlier allocations had already seen key portfolios like Home, Police, and Public Administration retained under the Chief Minister’s direct supervision, signaling his continued focus on law and order and core governance areas..
