NEW DELHI, July 1: From July 1,
Several new rules related to domestic LPG connections have come into effect, bringing stricter verification requirements and operational changes for consumers using Indane, HP Gas and BharatGas.
The updated measures are aimed at improving transparency, preventing misuse of subsidised LPG cylinders and encouraging a gradual shift to Piped Natural Gas (PNG) in areas where the service is available.
According to the revised norms, eligible consumers may be required to complete e-KYC verification to continue receiving LPG-related services without interruption. Customers who fail to update their details could face delays in cylinder bookings or subsidy processing.
In regions where PNG infrastructure has been fully developed, households may be encouraged to migrate from LPG to piped gas. Authorities have indicated that LPG connections in such areas may be surrendered after switching to PNG, with provisions to restore them if required later
Oil marketing companies have also revised commercial LPG cylinder prices from July 1, offering relief to businesses. However, there has been no change in the price of 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinders
. Consumers are advised to keep their mobile numbers updated, complete any pending verification and follow the latest booking guidelines issued by their LPG distributor to avoid service disruptions..
