Telangana Congress senior leader Jalpally Narendar has launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, taking a swipe at his recent interaction with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni during his foreign visit.
Narendar remarked that while “Melody” is being widely discussed and enjoyed in political circles and social media, critical domestic issues are allegedly being pushed into the background. He accused the Centre of ignoring pressing concerns affecting ordinary citizens.
He listed several issues including the falling rupee, volatile stock markets, rising gold and fuel prices, and recurring exam paper leak controversies, claiming these problems are adding pressure on middle-class and youth across the country.
The Congress leader said the government’s focus appears tilted towards image-building abroad rather than stabilizing the domestic economy. He argued that economic indicators are showing stress, but “optics-driven politics” is dominating the national discourse.
His remarks add to the growing criticism from Opposition leaders over the Prime Minister’s foreign engagements, with several parties alleging that symbolic interactions are being highlighted while key governance challenges at home remain unaddressed.
