A special session on “Rail-Led Development for Andhra Pradesh” was held during the CII Vijayawada Annual Meeting, highlighting the role of rail infrastructure in improving regional connectivity, logistics efficiency, and industrial growth. Addressing the gathering, Devendra Kumar, Additional Member (Traffic), Railway Board, said rapid development of transport infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh, particularly in the Vijayawada Division, is reducing travel time and enhancing connectivity. He noted that next-generation trains like Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat are improving passenger travel. Mohit Sonakiya, Divisional Railway Manager of Vijayawada Division, said the division plays a key role in freight movement, supporting transport of commodities such as cement and providing connectivity to major ports including Krishnapatnam and Kakinada.
Officials also highlighted the progress of the Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada Metro Rail Projects, which are expected to improve urban mobility and reduce traffic congestion. The session stressed the need for stronger collaboration between industry and railways to boost logistics efficiency and infrastructure development in Andhra Pradesh.
